Mitsubishi Electric MSZ-FH wall units with MUZ-FH Hyper-Heat outdoor units (FH06-FH18NA): quick sheet
Covers: Mitsubishi Electric M-Series MSZ-FH06NA, MSZ-FH09NA, MSZ-FH12NA, MSZ-FH15NA and MSZ-FH18NA wall-mounted indoor units (service manual OBH683) paired with MUZ-FH outdoor units (Hyper-Heat in the NAH versions) or connected to MXZ multi-zone outdoor units. The FH is the predecessor of the MSZ-FS; for MSZ-GL/FS see the separate sheet. Model and serial label: on the right side of the indoor unit under the front panel and on the side of the outdoor unit.
Indoor diagnosis uses the OPERATION INDICATOR lamp: the left lamp blinks a count with a beep. The service manual adds a 'failure mode recall' function that replays the last stored fault using the remote, and an emergency operation switch on the right side of the indoor unit for test runs. Outdoor faults (power system, thermistors, outdoor board) are read in more detail from LEDs on the outdoor board using the outdoor service manual.
Safety first
- The indoor-outdoor terminal block can carry line voltage: power off before checking wiring.
- No refrigerant or charge steps: refer to an EPA 608 certified technician.
How it works
If the left lamp blinks at 0.5-second intervals, either the indoor or the outdoor unit is abnormal. In recall mode, if the lamp stays ON for 3 seconds before blinking, the fault is in the outdoor unit.
Emergency/test operation: press the emergency operation switch once or twice; after 30 minutes of test run it shifts to emergency cool or heat at 75 F with medium fan.
A 3-minute time delay protects the compressor after it stops.
Indoor thermistors: room temperature RT11 and indoor coil RT12 (main) / RT13 (sub).
