LG standard (non-inverter) window air conditioners LW8016ER / LW1016ER (R-32, rotary): quick sheet
Covers: LG fixed-speed electronic window units with remote, 2023 spec sheets: LW8016ER (8,000 BTU/h, top-down chassis) and LW1016ER (10,000 BTU/h, slide in-out chassis), both 115 V, rotary compressor, R-32. Model reading: LW = LG window, the next two digits = nominal capacity in thousands of BTU/h (LW8016ER = 8,000, LW1016ER = 10,000). LW...IVSM Dual Inverter units are covered in their own sheet. Other LW sizes of the same family (e.g. LW6017R, LW1216ER, LW1816ER) follow the same pattern; confirm details on their own spec sheets. Search terms: LW8016ER, LW1016ER, LG window AC CH04, LG window FL.
Simple thermistor-controlled window units: rotary compressor, turbo indoor fan, 3 cooling and fan speeds, filter alarm and power-failure auto restart. The only code LG documents for window units is CH04 / FL (condensate not draining); most other calls are airflow, electrical or installation (tilt).
Safety first
- Plug directly into a grounded 115 V outlet; no extension cords.
- R-32 is mildly flammable: refrigerant work is blocked and goes to an EPA 608-certified technician.
How it works
Thermistor control cycles the compressor to the set temperature; an Energy Saver function is listed on both spec sheets.
LG says window units are designed so that condensate evaporates naturally during operation, and that in rainy or very humid weather more water collects and the unit can show CH04 (FL on some models) while still cooling normally.
Auto restart brings the unit back in its last mode after a power cut.
