Simple 24 V-controlled scroll condensing unit with a direct-drive propeller fan and a hard shut-off TXV-matched indoor coil. No outdoor board on the cooling-only model: diagnosis is contactor, capacitor, fan, compressor and the 24 V call. ICP lists a minimum cooling ambient of 55 °F without accessories.

How it works

Thermostat Y and C from the indoor unit energize the contactor; ICP notes the 24 V control circuit needs an external (indoor) power source.

Contactor feeds the scroll compressor and PSC fan motor through the run capacitor; all motors and compressors have internal overload protection.

Cooling operating range per the spec sheet: 55 °F to 125 °F outdoor (low-ambient kit needed below that).

Lennox XC21 (air conditioner, service literature Corp. 1007-L2) and XP21 (heat pump, Corp. 1031-L7), 2, 3, 4 and 5 ton, R-410A, expansion valve indoor coils only. Both use an A175 main control (outdoor control part number 101798-xx) that works in communicating (iComfort) or conventional 24 V mode, plus a separate fan motor control. The XP21 literature describes a two-stage scroll compressor; the 2018 XC21 literature describes the compressor as one-stage while the same control section covers two-stage units, so confirm staging on the nameplate.
