Hotpoint HTX24 (HTX24EASKWS) 6.2 cu ft electric dryer: quick sheet
Covers: Hotpoint (GE Appliances) HTX24EASK*WS 27-inch electric dryer, white with silver backsplash; parts catalogs list production suffixes such as HTX24EASK0WS and HTX24EASK1WS. GE lists it as a 'top load' (matching) dryer: it has a side-swing front door and matches the HTW240 washer. Rental and builder staple of the late 2010s-early 2020s; some retailers now list it as no longer available.
A basic electromechanical dryer: rotary timer, 4 cycles (including Auto Dry and up to 80 minutes Timed Dry), 3 heat settings, an aluminized drum, an up-front lint filter and 4-way venting rated for long runs. No electronic control, so diagnosis is meter work on the heat circuit, motor and drum supports. Most calls are no heat after a restricted vent and drum noise.
Safety first
- Unplug before opening panels; 240 V on two legs.
- Never bypass the thermal fuse or high-limit.
- Vent only to outdoors with metal duct; plastic or foil duct is a fire risk.
How it works
Timer and push-to-start switch run the drive motor, which turns the drum by belt and spins the blower.
Heat: the 240 V element is cycled by the cycling (operating) thermostat for the selected heat setting; a high-limit and a thermal fuse open on overheat.
Auto Dry: GE describes it as monitoring air temperature to decide drying time; the timer advances when the exhaust is warm enough.
Air path: lint filter at the front, blower, rear exhaust in rigid 4-inch metal duct to outdoors; GE rates venting runs up to 120 ft (configuration-dependent).
