GE GDT225S (GDT225SSLSS) top-control dishwasher with stainless interior: quick sheet
Covers: GE 24-inch hidden top-control GDT225S** with stainless tub and pocket handle: GDT225SSLSS (stainless) plus finish variants on the same base model. Low-profile ADA-compliant body. Sold approx. 2019-2024 (inferred from listings; GE now marks it no longer manufactured). Find the model/serial tag on the tub edge inside the door. Build-date reading from the serial is not stated here (not confirmed by two sources for this family); see the guide find-model-and-serial-number-on-any-appliance.
Entry-to-mid GE built-in with a stainless interior, 12 place settings, three-level wash, Piranha hard food disposer, AutoSense cycle and a Sanitize option. Drying is condensation-type (no heated or fan dry listed), so damp plastics are normal. Low-profile height suits 34-inch counters and raised subfloors (GE spec text quoted by retailers). GE dishwashers of this generation report by display or light pattern depending on model: H2O (no fill), C1/C3 (drain), C6/C7 (water temperature / thermistor), C8 (detergent cup), PF (power failure, not a fault). Meanings vary by model; see the GE dishwasher codes and the GE / GE Profile / Café dishwasher field service manual.
Safety first
- Switch off the circuit (or unplug) and close the water supply before removing the kick plate or pulling the unit.
- Hardwired units: open the junction box only with the breaker off and verified dead.
- Water in the sump may be hot right after a cycle; the heating element stays hot for a while.
- Live-voltage checks at the valve, pump, heater or board are caution work.
- Watch for broken glass in the filter and sump.
- Flood risk: keep towels down and confirm no leaks after reconnecting.
How it works
Tub and racks: stainless tub with two adjustable nylon racks (no third rack or cutlery tray listed).
Pump and wash: inlet valve fills the sump; the wash pump drives a three-level wash. AutoSense reads soil and water temperature to set cycle length. Three cycles with five options; the Sanitize option uses a high-temperature final rinse (NSF residential).
Filtration: a Piranha hard food disposer with a stainless blade chops soil ahead of a removable filter.
Drying: condensation drying on the stainless tub walls; rinse aid matters a lot on this model.
Controls: hidden controls on the top edge of the door with a status light; child lock and delay start.
