GE GDP645SYN (GDP645SYNFS) stainless-tub dishwasher with Dry Boost and fan: quick sheet

Covers: GE 24-inch hidden top-control GDP645SYN** with pocket handle and stainless tall tub: GDP645SYNFS (fingerprint-resistant stainless) and finish variants. GDT645SYN** is the bar-handle sibling. Sold approx. 2019-2024 (inferred from listings; retailers mark it discontinued). Find the model/serial tag on the tub edge inside the door. Build-date reading from the serial is not stated here (not confirmed by two sources for this family); see the guide find-model-and-serial-number-on-any-appliance.

Single sourceBrands: GE10 components

Upper-mid GE built-in: stainless tall tub, 16 place settings, 48 dBA, five cycles, bottle jets, Piranha hard food disposer and Dry Boost with fan assist. GE dishwashers of this generation report by display or light pattern depending on model: H2O (no fill), C1/C3 (drain), C6/C7 (water temperature / thermistor), C8 (detergent cup), PF (power failure, not a fault). Meanings vary by model; see the GE dishwasher codes and the GE / GE Profile / Café dishwasher field service manual. Not yet verified: Second source for key specs was only a retailer listing title seen in search (page not fetched); size, cut-out and electrical single-source (Greentoe).

Safety first

  • Switch off the circuit (or unplug) and close the water supply before removing the kick plate or pulling the unit.
  • Hardwired units: open the junction box only with the breaker off and verified dead.
  • Water in the sump may be hot right after a cycle; the heating element stays hot for a while.
  • Live-voltage checks at the valve, pump, heater or board are caution work.
  • Watch for broken glass in the filter and sump.
  • Flood risk: keep towels down and confirm no leaks after reconnecting.

How it works

Tub and racks: stainless tall tub with two adjustable nylon racks (Greentoe lists no cutlery tray).

Pump and wash: inlet valve fills the sump; the wash pump drives the spray arms and the bottle jets in the upper rack. Soil sensor sets cycle length.

Filtration: Piranha hard food disposer ahead of a manual-clean filter.

Drying: heated dry with Dry Boost and a fan that moves moist air out.

Controls: hidden top controls with a status light, delay start and child lock.

Whirlpool family dishwashers: reading Clean-light flash codes, F#E# displays and the diagnostic cycle

Models with a display show the code as F#E#. Lights-only models blink one LED in two groups: the first group is the F (function) number, a short pause, then the E (error) number, then a long pause before it repeats. A diagnostic cycle on many of these controls is entered by pressing any three keys in a 1-2-3 order three times quickly, which lights all indicators and lets you run the cycle to watch each function.

GE appliances: reading and recalling fault codes on dishwashers and laundry

GE dishwashers with electronic controls show codes on the display (C1, H2O, PF and similar) or flash the Start/Reset light in counted groups on LED-only models. GE itself splits codes into ones the user can clear (delay, detergent cup, power failure, kinked hose) and ones that need service. GE laundry generations differ a lot: older top-loaders flash LEDs, front-loaders keep a stored-code list inside a test mode. Entry sequences vary between GE models and the sources disagree, so take them only from the model's tech sheet.

Frigidaire / Electrolux: diagnostic mode, last-fault recall and relay-test codes that are not faults

Newer Frigidaire/Electrolux dishwashers show i-codes (i10, i20, i50 and similar) and two-letter codes; during the relay test inside diagnostic mode they also show short codes that only confirm the test is running and are not faults. Front-load washers keep a last-code readout you reach with a button pair or knob position. Refrigerators lose the fault code when the plug is pulled. Entry sequences differ by model and the sources conflict, so get them from the service data sheet on the unit.
