Amana PTC / PTH DigiSmart PTACs and PTHPs (G design series, R-410A): quick sheet

Covers: Amana-brand packaged terminal units built by Goodman (Daikin group) with the DigiSmart electronic control: PTC (cooling with electric heat), PTH (heat pump with electric backup) and DRY (dehumidifying cooler). Model pattern from Amana's spec sheet SS-DPTAC: PT + C or H + capacity (07, 09, 12, 15, 17 = 7,000-17,000 BTU/h) + voltage digit (2 = 115 V, 3 = 230/208 V, 4 = 265 V, 5 = 240/220 V 50 Hz) + design series (G = R-410A) + two-digit heater size (00 none, 15 = 1.5 kW, 25 = 2.5 kW, 35 = 3.5 kW at 230/208 V or 3.7 kW at 265 V, 50 = 5.0 kW) + feature letters (A standard, C seacoast corrosion protection, D power door, F fuse holder, H hydronic-capable, P condensate pump on PTH, Q quiet chassis, R RF antenna, V power vent, W hard-wired) + placeholders X, e.g. PTC073G35AXXX, PTH123G35AXXX, PTC094G50AXXX. Search terms: PTC093G35AXXX, PTH123G35AXXX, PTH153G50AXXX, Amana DigiSmart diagnostic codes. Older B-series and earlier Amana PTACs are not covered.

DigiSmart PTACs slide into a standard 42-inch PTAC sleeve. The board can be run from the chassis keypad, a wired 24 V thermostat or a wireless (RF) thermostat, and it shows two-character diagnostic codes on the LED display. On 230/208 V the heater size is set by the cord, so the cord, receptacle and breaker must agree; 265 V units need an Amana subbase or hard-wire kit.

Safety first

  • Unplug or lock out before opening the control box.
  • 265 V units are hard-wired or on a subbase: verify 0 V before touching terminals.
  • Refrigerant work is blocked: refer to an EPA 608-certified technician.

How it works

230/208 V and 115 V units (all models under 250 V) use an LCDI cord. Amana's table pairs the cord with heater size: 2.5 kW on a 6-15P (15 A), 3.5 kW on a 6-20P (20 A), 5.0 kW on a 6-30P (30 A).

265 V units must use an Amana subbase (PTSB4**E) or hard-wire kit (PTPWHWK4); overcurrent protection is by factory-installed cartridge time-delay fuses.

PTH heat pumps switch automatically to electric heat at about 24 °F outdoor ambient (Amana spec sheet).

Voltage window per Amana: 230/208 V models 197-253 V; 265 V models 239-292 V; 115 V models 109-127 V.

Carrier Infinity Greenspeed 24VNA6 air conditioner and 25VNA4 heat pump (variable speed): quick sheet

Carrier Infinity Greenspeed Intelligence variable-speed outdoor units: 24VNA6 air conditioner (up to 26 SEER) and 25VNA4 heat pump (up to 24 SEER, up to 13 HSPF), 2-5 ton. Nomenclature from the service manual: 24 = AC, 25 = HP; V = variable speed; N = Infinity series; A = Puron (R-410A); 6 / 4 = SEER tier; two digits = nominal capacity (e.g. 36 = 36,000 BTU/h); voltage digit 3 = 208/230-1; compressor ID 4 = variable-speed scroll, 5 = variable-speed rotary. Serial format: week + year + plant letter + sequence (e.g. 0118E00001). Other 24VNA families (24VNA0, 24VNA9) use different software and code lists.

Trane XV20i / XV18 variable-speed outdoor units (4TTV0 AC, 4TWV0 heat pump, ComfortLink II): quick sheet

Trane variable-speed TruComfort / ComfortLink II communicating outdoor units: 4TTV0 air conditioners (XV20i family, e.g. 4TTV0024A1000C, 4TTV0036, 4TTV0048, 4TTV0060, 4TTV0061) and 4TWV0 heat pumps (Service Facts 4T-V0-SF). They use an Integrated Variable Speed Control (IVSC) board and a Communicating Display Assembly (CDA) in the outdoor unit. Distributor listings note several 4TTV0 revisions; confirm the full model on the nameplate before ordering parts. Single-stage XR14/XR16 units are on a separate sheet.

Lennox XC21 air conditioner and XP21 heat pump (Dave Lennox Signature, iComfort-enabled): quick sheet

Lennox XC21 (air conditioner, service literature Corp. 1007-L2) and XP21 (heat pump, Corp. 1031-L7), 2, 3, 4 and 5 ton, R-410A, expansion valve indoor coils only. Both use an A175 main control (outdoor control part number 101798-xx) that works in communicating (iComfort) or conventional 24 V mode, plus a separate fan motor control. The XP21 literature describes a two-stage scroll compressor; the 2018 XC21 literature describes the compressor as one-stage while the same control section covers two-stage units, so confirm staging on the nameplate. For ML14XC1/EL16XC1 single-stage units see the separate sheet.
