Replace the refrigerator evaporator fan motor
The evaporator fan pushes cold air over the coil into both sections. It sits behind the freezer rear panel (evaporator cover). Empty the freezer, remove the cover, unplug and unmount the fan, move the blade and rubber mounts to the new motor, and confirm airflow. Heavy frost on the coil means a defrost fault too.
Before you start
- Unplug the refrigerator before opening the evaporator cover; fan and defrost wiring are line voltage.
- Evaporator fins are sharp: wear gloves.
- Do not chip ice off the coil with tools; a punctured evaporator is a sealed-system repair (refer).
