Replace the lid switch / lid lock assembly (Whirlpool / Maytag VMW top-load)
On the VMW platform the lid switch and lock are one assembly fastened under the main top, with its harness running back to the control board in the console. The job is: open the console, release the main top, unplug the lock harness at the board, swap the assembly (two screws), route the harness exactly as the original, and run a spin test.

Before you start
- Unplug the washer before opening the console; the control board and lock harness are line-voltage circuits.
- Turn off both water valves before pulling the washer out from the wall.
