Replace the front-load washer drain pump
Clear the coin trap and hoses first: most no-drain calls are debris, not a dead pump. If the pump is confirmed bad, access depends on the platform (rear panel on many Whirlpool Duet-style units, front panel on many LG units, a bottom or lower-front opening on many Samsung units). Expect standing water, swap the pump with its clamps, and run a drain/spin test.
Before you start
- Unplug the washer before opening any panel.
- Close the water valves; let hot water cool if the machine stopped mid-cycle.
- Expect several gallons of standing water: drain through the filter or drain hose into a pan before removing the pump.
