Microwave drawer will not open, close or stay closed
Rule out an obstruction, an overloaded drawer, the control lock and a power interruption, then reset at the breaker. Persistent faults point to the position/sensing switch, drawer motor, slides or the control; check for oversized mounting screws on new installs.
Before you start
- Do not force the drawer except in a power failure; move it slowly by hand
- DANGER: the HV capacitor can hold a lethal charge even when unplugged; untrained users must not open the cabinet
- Trained techs: unplug, discharge and verify 0 V before testing switches or the motor
