Known issue: Samsung Super Speed top-loaders overheating (2022 recall, software fix)
In December 2022 Samsung and the CPSC recalled about 663,500 top-load washers with Super Speed Wash (series WA49B, WA50B, WA51A, WA52A, WA54A, WA55A, sold June 2021 to December 2022) because they could short-circuit and overheat. The remedy is a free software update: Wi-Fi units update over the air when online; non-Wi-Fi units need a free dongle from Samsung. Units with existing heat damage need diagnosis, not just the update.
