Known issue: LG electric range turns on by accidental knob contact (2025 recall, use Control Lock)
In February 2025 CPSC announced a recall of about 500,000 LG slide-in and freestanding electric ranges with front-mounted knobs, sold 2015 to January 2025, because the knobs can be switched on by accidental contact. Only listed models within specific serial ranges are included. LG's remedy is a free warning label that reminds owners to use the range's Lock Out / Control Lock function, which disables the elements when the range is not in use.
Before you start
- Turn off any element that is on and let the glass cool before inspecting.
- Keep items off the cooktop at all times; an accidental activation under a cutting board or box is how these fires start.
