Known issue: Frigidaire gas range oven ignites late with a 'whoomp' (2026 bake burner recall)
In March 2026 CPSC announced a recall of about 174,800 Frigidaire, Frigidaire Gallery and Frigidaire Professional gas ranges (serial numbers VF52200000 to VF54399999, sold June 2025 to January 2026) because the oven bake burner can ignite late, with 62 reports and 30 burn injuries. The remedy is a free professional installation of a new bake burner arranged by Electrolux. This is gas work: the tech's job is to identify the unit, make it safe and route it to the recall.
Before you start
- Gas appliance: do not adjust, replace or modify the bake burner, orifice, valve or igniter yourself. Burner replacement is done through the manufacturer recall by a qualified gas technician.
- If there is a gas smell, have everyone leave, do not operate switches, and call the gas utility from outside.
- CPSC says to stop using the oven immediately; the cooktop burners can still be used.
