Field pattern: Wolf burner goes out or keeps relighting on low (pan size, caps and simmer ports before any valve work)

Wolf burners have automatic re-ignition, so clicking on low means the flame is being lost and relit, not that the spark module is bad. The usual causes are an oversized pan starving the burner of air, a wet or dirty burner, a mis-seated cap or plugged simmer ports. The wrong turn is replacing the module or turning the simmer screw on the valve; valve adjustment is gas work for a licensed tech.

Before you start

  • Let burners cool before removing caps and rings
  • Do not adjust the valve simmer screw, orifices or gas pressure: that is gas work for a licensed technician or factory service
  • If you smell gas, shut burners off, ventilate, no switches, have the customer call the gas utility
