Field pattern: Whirlpool VMW top-loader lid lock codes (lock, harness or control?)
The code only says the control asked for a lock and never got confirmation. Techs see three causes: a worn lock, a cracked or loose wire between lock and control, or the control's lock output. The usual wrong turn is swapping the lock (or the board) without checking voltage at the lock connector and the harness, so the code returns and the call becomes a callback.
Before you start
- Unplug the washer before opening the console or unplugging connectors
- Voltage checks at the lock connector are live-voltage tests: insulated probes, one hand, no wet floor
