Guide · RefrigeratorWork from the outlet inward: supply, cord, door/display harness, then the boards. Many 'dead display' calls on French-door and side-by-side units are harness faults at the door hinge, not failed boards.
Component test · RefrigeratorMany modern refrigerator fans are brushless DC motors with their electronics inside the motor. An ohmmeter cannot judge them reliably. The safe test is to confirm the supply voltage and control/feedback signals at the connector, then swap the motor if the signals are right.
Component test · RefrigeratorInverter boards make variable-frequency 3-phase power for the compressor. Electrical checks of the board and compressor terminals are allowed; anything that opens the sealed refrigerant system is EPA 608 work and blocked. Boards fail more often than compressors.
