How to test a washer water inlet valve (screens, coils, pressure)

Rule out supply first, clean the hose screens, then test each solenoid coil with power off. Coil resistance varies by brand; an open or near-zero reading is the clear failure.

Replace the washer water inlet valve

The inlet valve sits where the fill hoses connect, usually at the top rear. On most front-loaders and VMW top-loaders the top panel comes off and the valve is held by two screws; older direct-drive top-loaders need the console opened and the cabinet removed. Confirm supply and screens first, swap the valve with the wiring in the same positions, and leak-check under pressure.
