Bradford White AeroTherm RE2H heat-pump water heater (50/65/80 gal): quick sheet
Covers: AeroTherm RE2H50S, RE2H65T, RE2H80T (first generation, installation manual dated 2022) and suffixes such as -1NCWT / -1NCTT; G2 RE2HP65 is a newer build. Also sold under the Jetglas label.
Hybrid electric tank: a top-mounted heat pump with 240/208 V backup elements, Vitraglas-lined steel tank, washable top air filter, condensate drain. The control panel shows water-heater, tank, need-to-assess and heat-pump codes and lets you see thermistor and component status. Deep diagnostics: heat pump water heater field service manual.
Safety first
- Turn off the breaker and verify zero volts before touching elements, thermostats or terminals; 240 V tank and tankless units can be lethal.
- Never energize an element without water around it (dry fire).
- Do not remove or plug the T&P relief valve; its discharge line must run to a safe spot.
- Sealed refrigerant system is blocked: refer to an EPA 608-certified technician.
How it works
In heat-pump modes a compressor moves heat from room air into the tank; the elements run only in hybrid/electric modes or high demand.
Air passes a washable filter at the top; condensate drains from a pan through a hose to a drain or pump.
Thermistors on the tank and in the heat pump feed the control; codes are read on the panel.
