Wall oven install: cut-out, support platform and conduit connection

Wall ovens are heavy and hardwired. The cabinet needs the right cut-out and a support platform rated for the oven weight, and the flexible conduit connects to an approved junction box with a strain relief clamp. Manufacturers do not allow a plug and receptacle on these products.

Before you start

  • Breaker off and verified dead before connecting.
  • Two or more people: a double oven can weigh well over 200 lb.
  • Remove the doors only as the instructions describe (hinge locks) to reduce weight.
  • Aluminum branch wiring: only connectors rated for copper-to-aluminum; otherwise refer to an electrician.
