Replace the dishwasher drain pump
On many current dishwashers (Whirlpool-built, GE and others) the drain pump twists into the sump under the tub and is reached from the toe kick. Prove the drain path is clear, then swap the pump: unplug, unclamp the drain hose, release the locking tab, twist the pump out, lubricate the new seal, twist it in, and drain-test.
Before you start
- Turn off the dishwasher breaker (or unplug it) and confirm the panel will not light before opening the toe kick.
- Close the hot-water supply stop if the unit has to be pulled out.
- Remove standing water from the tub first; it will flow out of the sump when the pump is removed.
