Replace the dishwasher door latch assembly

The latch and its door switch are usually one assembly. On most US dishwashers it is reached by separating the outer door panel from the inner door; on many Bosch models it is reached from the top of the door after releasing the unit from the counter. Rule out a misaligned strike, then swap the assembly and test latching several times.

Before you start

  • Turn off the dishwasher breaker (or unplug it) and confirm the panel will not light before opening the door panels.
  • Support the outer door panel as the last screws come out; it can drop and break the control harness.
  • On units pulled out to reach the latch, close the water stop and do not stress the supply line.
