Refrigerator condenser fan not running
The condenser fan pulls room air over the condenser and compressor. A dirty coil or a seized or failed fan makes the compressor run hot and long and can trip its overload. Clean first, then check the fan and the supply to it.
Before you start
- Unplug the unit before you remove the rear cover or touch the fan.
- Supply voltage checks at the fan connector are live tests, and many fans are board-driven DC motors, so follow the tech sheet.
- Don't run the unit for long with the machine compartment cover off, because it guides the airflow.
