Mini-splits: blink-count codes vs remote-controller error query (Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric and others)

Mini-splits report faults three ways: blink counts on the indoor unit LEDs, a code on the indoor display, or a code you query with the remote or wall controller. The remote query often gives a precise code where the blinks only give a group. Daikin remotes reach it by holding the timer Cancel button until 00 flashes, then stepping until a continuous beep marks the stored code. Mitsubishi Electric remotes use a Check function that makes the receiver beep and flash the code. Meanings differ by brand, so never reuse another brand's table.
