Known issue: LiftMaster myQ wall control panels may let the door close on an obstruction (2023 recall)

In February 2023 Chamberlain Group and the CPSC recalled about 96,400 LiftMaster myQ garage door control panels made March to October 2022, sold alone or with wall-mount jackshaft openers, because the panel's secondary entrapment protection could fail. Listed models: 8500MC, 8500CMC, 8500RGDMC, RJO20MC, RJO20CMC, RJO20CHMC, 889LMMC, 889RGDMC and 041A7928-3MC. The remedy is a free repair kit with a replacement control panel.

On opening, photo eyes do not matter, so a mid-travel stop is almost always force: the opener sensed more effort than it learned. Look for a door that binds, stiff cold lubricant, ice in the track or a spring problem before touching settings. Only then reprogram travel/force.
