Known issue: Goodman / Amana indoor coil refrigerant leaks (formicary corrosion) - diagnose and refer
Several proposed class actions (Pennsylvania 2014, North Carolina, Arizona) alleged that Goodman and Amana copper evaporator coils leak refrigerant prematurely, claiming the company knew since about 2007; at least one court refused to certify a class, and no settlement was found. The industry cause most often cited for pinhole leaks in copper indoor coils is formicary corrosion. Goodman's parts warranty generally covers the coil, not labor, and requires registration. Leak search and coil replacement are EPA 608 refrigerant work.
