Gas oven not heating (igniter glows, no flame)
On glow-bar ovens the igniter is wired in series with the gas safety valve; a weak igniter can glow but not pull enough current to open the valve. The igniter current check is an electrical test. Anything involving the gas valve, regulator, orifices or gas lines is off limits: refer to a licensed gas technician.
Before you start
- If you smell gas: do not operate switches, do not light anything, shut off the gas supply if it is safe to do so, ventilate, leave the building and call the gas utility or 911 from outside
- Unplug the range before disconnecting any igniter wiring
- Do not disassemble, adjust or replace the gas valve, regulator, orifices or gas connections; refer to a licensed gas professional
