Freezer not cold after a move or delivery (laid on its side, oil settling wait)

When a freezer lies on its side, compressor oil can travel into the refrigerant lines. Makers ask for it to stand upright before power-up: Haier says as long as it was on its side up to 24 hours, Whirlpool says a full day, Samsung (fridge-freezers) at least 4 hours. If it was plugged in too soon, unplug, let it stand, then retry and allow 24 hours to pull down before diagnosing.
