Field pattern: dehumidifier 'not collecting water' in a cool basement (icing or a dry room, not refrigerant)
Standard portable units lose capacity fast below the mid-60s °F and the coil frosts, so they spend much of the time in defrost and collect little water. A room that is already at or below the set point also gives no water. Check air temperature, real humidity with a separate hygrometer and the filter before anyone talks about refrigerant.
Before you start
- Unplug before removing the filter or panels
- The refrigerant circuit is sealed: no gauges, no recharge
