Telescopic downdraft vent will not rise (or fan will not run)
Telescopic downdrafts have a lift motor and a separate blower. Most calls are power (cord unplugged in the cabinet, breaker), an obstruction that triggered the safety stop, or a button that was tapped instead of held. The blower is normally interlocked and only runs with the vent fully up.
Before you start
- Keep fingers clear of the top of the vent when it is lowering
- Unplug the downdraft before reaching into the cabinet mechanism
- Servicing the blower or lift mechanism may require removing the cooktop; disconnect cooktop power first and refer any gas cooktop connection work to a licensed gas professional
