House feels humid or clammy while the central AC is running
An air conditioner only removes moisture while the coil is cold and condensate is draining. Anything that shortens the 'wet coil' time hurts dehumidification: an oversized system that satisfies the thermostat in short bursts, or a blower left on ON so it blows across the wet coil between cycles and puts moisture back into the house. Check settings and cycle length before suspecting the equipment.
Before you start
- Power off at the air handler before opening panels to inspect the coil or drain
- No refrigerant work: weak coil performance from a charge problem goes to an EPA 608 certified technician
