Communicating system (Carrier Infinity / Bryant Evolution) shows 'unit not found' or lost communication

Communicating systems use a four-wire bus: A and B carry data, C and D carry 24 VAC. Carrier's trade guidance says most faults come from the connecting wiring, so isolate devices one at a time before replacing boards.

Heat pump stuck in defrost or defrosting too long

Normal defrost lasts a few minutes, with the outdoor fan off, steam rising and aux heat on. A unit that stays in defrost points to a defrost thermostat/sensor that never opens, a board fault, or a reversing valve that doesn't shift back. Separate normal behaviour from a real fault first.

ECM blower motor won't run (air handler / furnace): power, signal, then motor vs module

Work in order: line voltage at the motor plug, the command signal (24 V on a tap for constant-torque motors; board command for variable-speed), mechanical drag, and only then the motor windings versus the electronic module. Many 'bad motor' calls are a missing call or a bad ground.
